💥 The war had already been raging for several years, bringing the work on the blue-eyed mice and Irène's research to a halt.

💉 Having developed tuberculosis, Irène required regular medical treatment. The war made these essential procedures for her survival increasingly difficult. Reluctantly, and at her husband's insistence, she had to accept that she must leave France in order to receive treatment and protect her children.

🐭 It was unthinkable for her to abandon her little research companions. Equipped with a makeshift means of transport, she managed to take them with her as far as the Swiss border.

Arsène Moesch and Josef Brühlmann were waiting there to ensure their safety.

🇨🇭 Thanks to them, Irène, her children, and the mice were able to take refuge in Switzerland. Although she could no longer continue her research, Irène took advantage of being in this safe country to meet several scientists in Geneva (https://anomalysite.blue/geneva/). She kept them informed of the latest developments and stressed the importance of creating a joint project between nations.
