Bicycle sharing system and renting bicycles

Vélib Métropole

vélib 2.png Velib docking station Vélib métropole is the public bicycle sharing system proposed by Paris. It’s the widest network in the centre of Paris and the nearby suburb with 1500 stations and 20.000 bikes. There are two types of bicycles: Green ones (mechanical / classic) and blue ones (electrical).

It's way easier to register and subscribe single ride or day pass through the website or the app BEFORE going to the station. You need a credit card. A €300 security deposit is required. It will only be charged in the event that the bicycle is not returned or is returned damaged. Count 3 euros for a single 45-minute long rent, 5 euros for a 24-hour pass for mechanical bike, 10 € for 24-hour pass (both mechanical and electric bikes included) or 20 euros for a 3-day pass (both mechanical and electric bikes included). To avoid paying extra money, you have to change Vélib every 30, 45 or 60 minutes, depending on the plan you choose.

More info on the website : https://www.velib-metropole.fr/en/offers Bikes can be used 7 days a week, 24 hour/day. You have to secure your bike at a station (docking point).

Tips: From experience, there are usually more electric bikes available at the docking stations. Check the bike's brakes before taking one out of a docking point, as the bikes are not always in good shape.
