Paris, a generous city

Paris, a generous city

In the 1870s, Paris was facing an unprecedented crisis. As the population grew 📈, not everyone had access to drinking water. The city’s residents owed their salvation to a Londoner 💂 who had settled in France, Sir Richard Wallace, a young, philanthropic and discreet heir. He enabled the city to install free drinking fountains 😍, allowing everyone to access this essential beverage. The first Wallace fountain was installed in 1872 on Rue de la Villette.

Charity, Kindness, Simplicity, Sobriety : these are the names of the four caryatids on the Wallace fountain. Having become famous, Wallace fountains can be found all over the world 🌏 in places such as Rio de Janeiro, Moscow, Maputo, Amman and Jerusalem...

Today, Paris has 107 of them, and there are even some blue ones ! Can you spot them?
